Education grades

The school offers a daily program (M — F) for children aged 4 and up:

  • Kindergarten for children aged 4 (born in 2005) and aged 5 (born in 2004). The kindergarten program is Monday — Friday, 8:15 am — 12:15 pm
  • Grades 1 — 4 for children aged 6 — 9. Starting with the 1st grade, pupils follow the National Greek Curriculum in all subjects. The first grades program is Monday — Friday, 8:30 am — 12:30 pm.
  • Daily lunch break 12:30 - 13:00
  • Other educational and cultural activities are provided for all grades daily, between 13:00 - 15:00
An additional grade will be added each year, based on the school's development plans.

Curriculum

The Greek School of Bucharest "Athena" offers a developmental curriculum in line with the Greek National curriculum, in accordance to the Hellenic Ministry of Education. Particular focus is placed on learning the Greek language, history, traditions and values. As a result, Greek mythology, religion and history classes are incorporated into the school program. In addition, courses include Mathematics, Science, Geography, Music and Physical Education. Although the primary teaching language is Greek, English and Romanian language classes are being offered. School activities also include traditional Greek dance, as well as introduction to martial arts.

Extra-curricular Greek classes

Greek language, culture and history classes are available for children attending other schools two times per week, between 5 — 7 p.m. For additional information and registration, please contact the school.
